ANGER
The Hawk Deck 11:15am
Anger is Our Most Passionate Emotion
seething or simmering — It must
be confronted
It must be addressed
It cannot be brushed aside
or “managed”
like the tell-tale
LOVE
We have all known

The Hawk Deck 3:00pm
Contemplating The Horizon Blue
punctuated by a roofer’s gun
I’m in a quandary
far from true
of whether My Visit Here is done
My Visit with My Ex Father-in-law
may have ended too
when I said to Him, just for fun
“I’ll always kiss Good-bye to You
now that We’re on better terms”
& now if That Mo should die
would I see Him Through?
The Hawk Deck 12:30pm
I stood in My Bedroom Entry Way
dust mop upright
fresh from going under The Bed
& a little bit around
(I do very light housekeeping)
I heard the song on Sirius
“This is Your Life —
This is Your Time –“
& yes, I do feel I am in My Time:
the only father-in-law I’ll ever have
has taken this 20th summer since My Mother died
to die very probably
of the same ailment
The Hawk Portico 2:00pm
The Wife sitting beside
the bed of Her Dying Husband
fusses with pillows, food uneaten
while “family” tries
to make sure She’s had enough
The Tomato-coloured Couch 6:30pm
That Bird with the sweetest trill
receives The Perfect Mate —
even Crows are treated fairly
with Their Devoted Followers —
The Bird World Works
& has worked for Millennia —
Shouldn’t Ours?
The Hawk Portico 2:42pm
Do Birds Know
the higher up They go
above the tree tops
the better Their cries will carry?
Or when They are in open air
between the trees
like The Crows & Grackles
squabbling today
over what?
Nesting Rights
or small fry?
The Hawk Deck 10:05am
There may be only so much
I can write about birds
bird life & song
the lull of the waves
has made Me strong
but I must wait
for the outcome
of a medical concern
involving My Children’s Grandfather
The Hawk West Desk Window 2:25pm
My Ultra-vision is Silver
even in a sudden black-out
on a Saturday Afternoon
with dinner guests scheduled to arrive
@ 6:00
I have polished the salt shaker
but not the candelabra
I have set the table
with My Mother’s Silverware
— The Dish, Chicken Polenta, is prepared —
— just has to bake —
when & if My Electric Oven
turns on
The Hawk Kitchen 6:30pm
The Clouds Along The Eastern Horizon
are light, light cream and blue
with a darker bank, fog-like, above
Meanwhile, to The West
The Horizontal Clouds Are Dark Blue
with white, feathery banking
highlighted
by a hidden sun
–
I look from East To West
and back again
and watch the tricky play of light
unfolding off
a day of rain
