sprinkled with olive oil & Parmesan cheese

even though I have asparagus
pan rolls (today’s date)
unopened wine
I wouldn’t hesitate
to ask My Spontaneous Dinner Guests
to bring Dessert
Two Fall Leaves
make like Butterflies
across My Neighbour’s Lawn
Where Did They Come From?
He’s got the only deciduous tree
around Here
& It hasn’t turned
Yet
Out Beyond My Neighbour’s Flagpole
I See An Individual Wave Cresting
I See It Before I Hear It
& Then In The Calm
It Rolls My Way
Gold is like The Sun
Silver like The Moon
How They’ll Rise Together
We shall see so soon
The fashionable mantra “Live For Today”
is faulty at best:

which build Your “Today”
Your Past is where You Come From
It is all you have To Show For Your Life
Your Future is what You Envision
and therefore can make happen
or not make happen
Your Decisions and Your Actions are made
or not made
based on Your Past and Your Future:
“Today” is just lead time
