"Good Morning, World!"

Month: May, 2015

EVENING CAST

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 7:38pm

I saw a magic curtain of fog

sweep itself across The East

it carried on its vaporous edge

the very dimness of rain

but as I waited

it never came

& I was left

with only The Surf

to aid My Hearing

from this beloved

stage

SATURDAY AFTERNOON

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 3:30pm

I love My Kitchen Outpost

I can sit here as if

on a porch

surrounded on one side

by My Outdoor View

even if Its foggy

I can sit in My Purple Robe

in My Apple-green Chair

with a cat

on The Ottoman

& listen to a distant radio

drinking tea

& texting

DEFERENCE TO A GRACKLE

The Hawk Kitchen 10:00am

Last Night I watched

A Crow sidling up

to some bread I had thrown

but before He got there

A Grackle came clucking around

& The Crow moved off

three steps back

to allow The Grackle

first peck

FOG SONG

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 8:34am

The Scrub Spruce are receding

into The Fog

I have situated My Wrought Iron Chair

square on

to see The Spread of Ocean

when It clears

DOES SHE OR DOESN’T SHE?

The Hawk Kitchen 7:38pm

The Universe is incubating

in My Red Teflon Frying Pan

I have dished out & up

all I am made of

& now it is up

to the stars

to see if I work

MY OUTPOST WINDOW

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 3:51pm

My Outpost Window

is open to The Sea

screened against

moths & bugs I see

The Ocean framed

by The Upright Rectangle

of sliding glass

pushed up & open

to afford My Dream

treasured with The Song

of Birds

THERE IS NOTHING GREATER THAN THE HUMAN MIND

The Hawk Kitchen 8:30am

I have been wrestling

with God all My Life

finally I am winning

I have taken control

of the biggest force I know

& made Him do

His Dirty Work

for Me

SILVER SHIFT

The Hawk Kitchen 7:53am

The Silver Glare

alerts My Eyes

& shifts to flashes

of White

safe in My Kitchen

with the coffee pot on

I care not

for the rest of The World —

Oh but I do!

TWO WEEKS LATER

The Tomato-coloured Couch 4:20pm

My Mother’s Day Bunch

is a scraggly cascade of drying

lilly petals & crisp carnations

There are three well-preserved roses

the colour of autumn

with a card held high

“Hope You’ll enjoy

The Light of My Life bouquet –“

SELF-REPRESENTATION

Eliza’s Bathroom 1:38pm

I stand on a mat of Purple

in My Purple accented bath

looking down at My Purple toe nails

& Teal coloured pants

looking from above at My Station

as The 3rd Wife of a successful doctor

The Mother of 2.4 Children I love

fiercely
