BEEF STROGANOFF

The Tomato-coloured Couch 5:40pm

I saw My DVD today

& had a mild heart attack

–He was was with His Wife

I was with My Man

walking into Sobey’s

I turned around

& ran for the car

parked next to the sign

“In The Event of An Emergency

Gather Here”

My Husband had to drive Me home

a babbling basket case

possibly unable

to make

Beef Stroganoff

the ingredients of which

I bought in The Little Store

in Clark’s Harbour

WEDNESDAY’S CHILD

The Hawk Kitchen 11:40am

One Day This Week

I grew into A Giant

somewhere between

Prom on Saturday

& Graduation on Thursday —

It was Wednesday

I came out of The Bathroom

Naked

& felt My Shoulders Rise

My Chest Heave

My Legs Muscle Up —

I felt My Self Grow

like Alice In Wonderland

& climbed the stairs DOWN

to go tell Hunter:

“I’m A Giant —

I’m A Giant!”

I’m A Giant of A Mother

I’m A Giant of A Wife

I’m A Giant of A Lover

I’m A Giant of My Life

The Fog Is On The Prowl

The Hawk Family Room 8:30pm

Today I left My Grey Purse

in a shopping cart

at Sobey’s cart corral

which says

In The Event of An Emergency

Gather Here”

It could have been a bomb

but My Grey Purse was found

by a Do-Gooder

& returned, unopened, @2:22

for My Husband

to pick up

THE AGE OF 2

The Tomato-coloured Couch 4:45pm

The 1st Age of Man

included The Golden Age

The Age of Silver

The Age of Bronze

The Heroic Age

The Iron Age

(I looked These up on The Internet)

Well, I think

We’re in The 2nd Age:

where cars & boats are female

space ships could be

& computers most certainly are —

The Internet is

The Female Mind

embodied, constructed

on This Planet —

also female

& I’m drinking

Stella Artois

SUSPENSION

The Hawk West Desk Window 2:22pm

I am Suspended

like a crinkled strand of aerial hair

between two points

irrelevant

&

unknown

I am In

Mid Air

knowing not

whether I will land

or Where

I will go, if

Someone

blows Me

away

THE PRAYER

The Hawk Deck 12:30pm

I just thought

a prayer

for the Life of

My Little Bird —

In My Mind I Said:

Please God, spare

The Life of

My Little Bird

I spoke to

The Divine

Outside of Me

MY LITTLE BIRD

The Hawk West Desk Window 10:30am

My Little Bird

Greeted Me Today

At The Top Of The Scraggly Apple

I Was Holding My Cup Of Tea

At My Open Kitchen Sliding Door

He Looked At Me And Sang

And Sang

I Could Hear The Surf

Beyond The Scrub Spruce

And I Was In My Element

I Am In My Element

CROWD-PLEASING CHANT

The Hawk Queen Bed 10:22pm

WHO IS GOD?

We Are God

WHAT IS GOD?

We Are God

WHERE IS GOD?

Here Is God

WHERE?

Here!

WHERE?

Here!!

WHERE?!

Hear!!!

CALLING

The Hawk Deck 5:10pm

We Have The Birds

To Find A Singular

Song

Attributable

To A Distant Lover

Or A Child Long-missed

ELIZA TIME

The Hawk Deck 4:30pm

Twenty Years Ago

I wrote in a hospital:

“I CREATED MY SELF

BUT I GIVE GOD

THE CREDIT”

(Then I got intentionally pregnant)

Now I Say:

“I MADE UP MY DAUGHTER —

I PLANNED HER

TO BE A WOMAN WHO

CAN DO

ANYTHING

(and SHE HAS TO BE BEAUTIFUL)”

Eliza, born into water

came out

P-E-R-F-E-C-T

(& God had nothing to do with it)
