WAITING FOR 10:22

The Hawk Deck 9:47am

Yes, The Flies are going to grant Me

My Complete Happiness

I hear Them calling

periodically

along with The Waves

The Birds

& an occasional Cat

Oh — I just sneezed — twice

I see The Universe

when I sneeze

Have I Ever Told You That?

UP

The Hawk Deck 8:55am

It’s warming up

to a beautiful day

I Am Ushering In My Life

out on The Deck

I Am Eating My Banana

in a contemplative mode

listening, as always, to North Eastern Surf

dressed in My Robe

of Warm Silver

AFTERNOON SHAFT

The Tomato-coloured Couch 3:35pm

After making love with My Husband

After making a macaroni casserole

I sit in A Shaft Of Light

on The Tomato-coloured Couch

I flip through a Gucci catalogue

& listen to 90’s on 9

abandoning DHW

at least for now

He gave Me That Number

10:22

October 22, 1993

I have built a construct of living

around That Number, That Date

A Housefly flies into The Shaft

glinting like A Firefly

ELIXIR OF LIFE

The Hawk West Desk Window 11:30am

Every Morning I Am

A Woman Of Ritual

I Wake To Open The Blinds

Re-fill The Kitties’ Water Dish

And Drink From My Fridge Spigot

The First Of Many Glasses

Marked “LIFE”

I Log My Self Organizing Galaxy Views

At 9:11

Or 10:22

I Row For 22 Minutes And 22 Seconds

On My C2 Indoor Rowing Machine

And Then I Take

**My Shower**

The Literal Transformation

Of My Shower Of Silver Lights

MY NURSE

August 17, 2013 Highway 103, NS 4:47pm

There was a delicious dark haired Nurse

in The Old Nova Scotia Hospital

Who worked as I was admitted

on My Way to becoming psychotic

but not psychotic enough not to notice

Her Petite Stature, Shapely Hips

& Small Firm Breasts

accompanied by Her Accented “t’s”

from Cape Breton —

when I told Her behind The Desk

“You are very seductive –”

She quickly looked down around Her

& grabbed at Her Self

in a desperate sort of way

& I felt a momentary pang

of guilt

CEREMONY

August 17, 2013 Highway 103 NS 4:32pm

We are Our Respective Cells

on homing instinct

still in party clothes

from a High Anglican Wedding

complete with incense and bells

The Bride was beautiful

The Groom long & lean

on Their Ways to PhD’s at Cambridge

after Honeymooning in Cape Breton

WHB

August 16, 2013 The Atlantica, Halifax NS 6:40pm

I have a beautiful Man

Silver-haired

bare-chested in My King-size Bed

playing with His Tablet

while Room Service

brings Me 20 ounces of Stella Artois

& tries not to look

ACCOMMODATING GHOSTS*

August 16, 2013 The Atlantica, Halifax NS 6:30pm

Walking past the fenced-in grave yard

in the dead-centre of town

I smelled the distinct smell of pot

wafting through the tombstones

& lush vegetation

I heard a precise “Fuck You”

& kept walking

After buying this hand-made journal

I passed a seated smoking figure

Female — heaving silhouetted

smoke straight out in front of Her

in the direction of a Comrade

Who parked His Car

& asked for a light

*title from My Mother who wrote a short story by this title about “Them Old Fellers” in the house on McNutt Island

VIEW TO THE SOUTH

The Hawk Window Seat 8:40pm

The Sky is half pink

half silver grey

with A Three-quarter Moon

above The Lighthouse

glinting through The Scrub Spruce

to My Bedside

MY LAP

The Hawk Portico 5:30pm

I make My Lap

available to cats

& men

but only for short

periods of time

I invariably get up

to write

or wash dishes

or to get a sweater

if it’s windy

then I sit down

& cross My Legs

again
