is fascinating —
w/ His strong long Beak
He cleans each pinion feather
tipped in black —
then fanned-out tail
& fluffs His downy white.
He tucks His Head beneath His Breast
& beneath the “elbow” of His Wing —
intricate
structure for flight
coloured warm grey
for distinction.

Yesterday Eye made
M(eye) 3rd Banana Bread,
only this time It was not burnt
on The Bottom
as Eye had lined the rack
of M(eye) Betty Crocker toaster oven
w/ foil
& set It on a lower setting.
The Banana Bread came out
Perfect
butt Eliza would not be here
2 help Me eat It —
So This Morning
Eye decided 2 take It
2 Church,
M(eye) 1st Offering,
& did so only because
It WASN’T BURNT.

Today Eye have walked
2 The Guzzle —
The North of Hawk Beach
while turquoise waves glinted
Terns got angry
Piping Plovers squidaddled
& beside M(eye) Bank of The Guzzle
a new dome of shore foliage
made its appearance
where before there was no green,
adding length 2 the outcropping
of Hawk Dunes
& length 2 M(eye) 15 Years

this Morning —
last night Eye fed Him
a bowl of chicken fat
so Eye hope He’s alright —
that amount of grease
might kill a human
butt maybe Gully
has a gut of steel —
there’s a gull on a power pole
near M(eye) Neighbour’s Barn —
maybe that’s Him —
Oh no, @ next glance
no gull
Gully said “BACON”
sitting on His Rail
this morning —
His Command 2 Me
& Eye got IT
& so did He

of Sea’s Edge

for a Piece of Bacon
while standing on The Rail, His Rail —
now He preens
& washes His Big Yellow Beak
in The Recent White Bowl of Water
splashing around like a kid
& knocking on M(eye) Sliding Glass Door
