DEATH IS MY LIVELIHOOD

I have two worn out Birks Boxes
for My Single Silver Pen
re-established in Its Domain
each time I finish
writing — oh like a body
underneath a coffin lid —
lay Me down in a tomb
marked for eternity

with Their Magic Implements
recoiling
from Their Brevity
Interesting poem, and interesting title.
My mother told me once that if a reader called a piece of writing “interesting” it was not a very good criticism — i.e. the reader did not know what else to say — but with you, Potterfan, I know this is not the case.
I mean interesting in the best sense of the word 🙂 The kind of interesting that gets your head working and your thoughts spinning. Thanks for kicking up the dust today, Joanna.
I especially enjoyed writing this poem — it was so satisfying and I am thrilled to have your comments.
