SECURITY
by Joanna Gilman Hyde
The Hawk Deck NOON
The harsh call of The Crow
interspersed with My Meandering Mind
alerts Me to what
I am thinking
as an accent mark
an exclamation point:
Yes — I am happy
here on My Deck
I am secure
— oh! another Crow —
I am secure here
but My Mind is connected
to a twenty-year-old
event
which has guided Me
to this place of solace
and guides Me still
To be without security is a terrible thing. Sometimes, when I look inside myself I think Maslow’s hierarchy (http://www.businessballs.com/maslow.htm) has not got it right and that security is more basic even than our biological and physiological needs.
I don’t believe in across-the-board psychological levels of “need.” I believe perhaps everyone has different needs at different times and even for different reasons.
Yes, I think you are right. I know *I* do. 🙂 And although I will never be them, from what I see it is the same with other folk too.
It feels good to be in agreement with you, Ben.
Ah, the secret of eternal happiness. 😉
Crows everywhere punctuate the madness, echo the overheard chatter. —–Chagall
Thanks for your observation.
