I have to go out to pick up My Husband from work.
Nice image of black Jesus who still remembers her “duty”
This may represent an “image” or a “persona,” but underneath is some kind of festering urgency to make a societal statement. I do not know what the statement is precisely until I Am The Black Jesus.
I’m still thinking about this poem and I have come back and re-read it a few times. The term “Misses” has my attention for some reason.
The obvious, for me, is how we “dress over” who we are or we need to “dress up” before we can go out to perform out duties, like some sort of uniform. I think there is still a deeper meaning here.
Great poem Joanna it has me thinking..
I like to get you thinking, Jackie, though that was not my original intention. I feel that clothing can wield power and that such power is not necessarily superficial.
