THE SELF-PORTRAIT

The Hawk Queen Bed 9:52pm

If I were to paint

a picture of My Self

what colour would I use

to start?  Yellow, please

as I see Me in a room

of Gold

with Purple Rings

under My Eyes

as I see Them sag

into disproportion

I would put Chartreuse

upon My Fallen Lids

stark Black for Brows

still arched

My Two Left Moles

would be three-dimensional

& My Lips, cracked slightly

with age lines

would be a Lurid Red

maybe smearing across

The Right Side

Of My Face

MY PAINTING

The Tomato-coloured Couch 7:15pm

I have painted

The Sacred Heart

The Bon Jovi Heart

The Broken Heart

of My Third Child

I have painted

The Silver Lights

of My Black Star

violent

immovable

immortalized

beyond Me

I AM TRULY HAPPY

The Hawk Deck 11:22am

I have succeeded

in painting out

The Shower Of Silver Lights

They will stream forth

from the wall above

My Tomato-coloured Couch

& They Will Be Divine

POWER OF THE PAGE

The Hawk Portico 12:15pm

There is Power in My Writing

It is not just Black

in Black’s simplicity

My Writing is All Colours

It is Alarm-bell Red for Stopping

It is Blue for Breathing

The Sky

It is Yellow for The Sun

It is Silver for Humanity

There is Power in Humanity

We are no longer

weaklings

groping Our Way

to death

We are Above death

for I have seen

The Light

of

Our Night

and I believe

We Are Eternal

TENTH ANNIVERSARY

The Hawk Deck 11:11am

This Morning I Rose

To My Red Vase Of Roses

Pooling On The Floor

SEE

The Tomato-coloured Couch 3:38pm

When I close My Eyes

tightly

& lie in The Sun

I perceive a sea

of Red

When I loosen My Lids

I see mottled Silver

& as My Eyes squint open

I see The Rays

of My Enlightenment

HONOUR

June 19, 2014 The Hawk Dining Room

I have seen The Emblem

of Canada

before the pink sky

animated

by a song on the radio*

dancing

not to gusty wind

but toward a place

in My Mind

PLAY

The Hawk West Desk Window 9:25pm

I was toying with writing

of the subtlety

of the sunset tonight

— especially to The North East —

but before bed

I looked West

to a fiery stage

orange-red

&

so
