WHAT ARE WE?

The Tomato-coloured Couch 7:45pm

If Human Beings

Are Stars, What Are Animals —

Star Dust Nebulae?

SEE

The Tomato-coloured Couch 3:38pm

When I close My Eyes

tightly

& lie in The Sun

I perceive a sea

of Red

When I loosen My Lids

I see mottled Silver

& as My Eyes squint open

I see The Rays

of My Enlightenment

HONOUR

June 19, 2014 The Hawk Dining Room

I have seen The Emblem

of Canada

before the pink sky

animated

by a song on the radio*

dancing

not to gusty wind

but toward a place

in My Mind

*Natasha Bedingfield “Unwritten”

ORGANISM TO HER HOST

The Hawk Portico 5:05pm

We are sucked to The Ocean

like little girls

in tiny suits

lolling

in the salty surf

PLAY

The Hawk West Desk Window 9:25pm

I was toying with writing

of the subtlety

of the sunset tonight

— especially to The North East —

but before bed

I looked West

to a fiery stage

orange-red

&

so

I

ignite

CREATIONISM

The Tomato-coloured Couch 7:25pm

The House Fly I cupped

in My Right Hand

and released beyond

My Front Door

knows My Scent

and carries It with Him

into Reality

PATIENCE

The Hawk Basement 12:55pm

I have seen The Face

of Patience

pitted against & between

two V.I.P.’s

as I was when I was twenty-three —

then the men were heads

of The World Trade Center

the three schools of Cooper Union —

thirty years later the men

are two country doctors

with so much more

than initials

— They Have Me —

next to Their Names

OFF THE TRAIL

The Hawk Portico 1:45pm

I heard a bull frog

a sort of rubber-y note

very sound of bog

ON THE TRAIL

Barrington Passage, NS 12:26pm

I have stepped through

a tunnel of shimmering leaves

calling Me along

by the dappled light

I have breathed in

the hue of fuchsia rose

wild

& heard the lupine

sing out

purple & white

UNTITLED

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 9:15pm

sometimes I cannot get

the words

fast enough

before the pink

spreads itself

out of the sky

& I am left

with My favourite
