THE HAWK KITCHEN OUTPOST

The Hawk Outpost 2:27pm

I’ve taken to leaning My Elbows

on The Hawk Kitchen Outpost —

a narrow window looking East

perfect for One Person

From My Stance I can see

the backs of My Neighbour’s Barns

top branches of one deciduous tree

and two roof lines down by the shore

The Ocean spreads Itself before Me

and I can see white lines of waves

coming in

through a sizeable break

in the swath of scrub spruce

encircling this

Our Little Island

I Heard My Living Sea

The Hawk Queen Bed 10:22pm

I Live To Hear The Ocean Breathe

I Live To Feel My Body’s Cells

Circulate, Race, Through My Limbs

I Live To Fulfil A Promise

Made

By My Brain To The Rest Of Me

“Live For The Moment”

“Live”

All Systems Within

Surging

I Felt Literally, Fully

Alive

THEN THE SUN

The Hawk West Desk Window 7:45pm

Assessing The Opalescent Sky

To The Northwest Of Me

I Caught A Southerly Glimpse

Of The Setting Sun

Through A Bank Of Cloud

Breaking Open

Like An Eye

Dear Luke:

The Hawk Outpost 5:48pm

Last Night You Showed Me

The Moon

Tonight I Have Seen It

Again

Between Parted Clouds

While I Think Of You —

Your Friend,

Joanna

Why Don’t I?

The Tomato-coloured Couch 5:04pm

Why don’t I just think

about God the way

Everybody Else does?

How much simpler would My Life be —

My Writing?

Would I quit bashing My Head

against the proverbial brick wall —

Would I join the rest of Humanity

if I believed in creation —

How can I believe in creation when I believe

We’ve never NOT existed

& that WE are responsible

for Our Own Realities?

APRIL AFTERNOON

The Hawk Portico 3:28pm

Behind A Cloud Of Pinkish Hue

Our Sun Was Burning Silver Bright

The Cloud Dispersed Then From My View

I Embraced God’s Warm Delight

IN THE SINK

The Tomato-coloured Couch 8:04pm

Imagine My Black Frying Pan

hailing globules of bacon grease

coagulating into Silver Orbs

slowly swirling for aeons

Imagine Me Washing My Hands

under the tap, soapy water

disrupts that Universe

chancing for a new

set of bubbles

INTRODUCTION

The Tomato-coloured Couch 6:53pm

I have The Music of Poetry

to guide Me

I have Black Jesus at My Side

I live by The Ocean

My Name is Joanna Gilman Hyde

I come out to greet You

Big Wide World

with My Art

My Concept of God as Humanity

Humanity as God

I Pray: Take Me In

I Pray:  Embrace The Sky

The Sound of Life

The Hawk Portico 1:57pm

Birdsong is The Sound of Life

with Ocean as a backdrop

I sit in Sanctuary

The End To Strife

and wait Here

for The World to Stop

HOME

The Hawk Deck NOON

The Vista Of My Mind

is an endless one —

There Is No Horizon

I am emanating

The Juice Of Life

I have come This Far

to regulate

to undulate

to populate

and I will stay Here

until The Chickadee

calls Me

Home
