A PAIR OF DEER
The Hawk Outpost 3:55pm
My Announcement for Today
is The Sudden Sighting
of two does
grazing in My Back Yard
while I prepared
pasta salad
& looked at the grey-laden
sky

The Hawk Queen Bed 11:11am
While Our Second Pot of Coffee
steeped
an amorphous flock of Starlings
(at least I assume They were Starlings)
crowded out the sky to the south
& landed on several high wires
matting there
until They took off
scattered
to the west
leaving the wires swaying
in Their rush
leaving Me to pour The Coffee

Big News among The Crows
today, heralded by several Jays
as I looked to The Grey Ocean
& Sky — The US Mint
sold out Its Silver Eagles
while A Great Blue Heron flew
past My Kitchen Outpost

We are on a passage way
toward & of seduction — I am
Dr Blair’s — I belong
in His House By The Sea
with The Sun setting golden
thrown against The Silver Clouds
The Hawk Outpost 6:40pm
I am The Wisps of Gold
turning Pink
as The Clock turns
turning Grey
to Early Evening White
as a deer with antlers
grazes in My Back Yard
The Tomato-coloured Couch 2:30pm
Here I sit
in Nova Scotia
Land O’ My Dreams
with the salt fog
wafting past My Living Room
Window
My Husband has joined Me
on The Tomato-coloured Couch
where I often write
to avail My Self
of every opportunity
here in seclusion
to realize
My Public Life

What Motivates The Bird
To Fly?
Is It Just That He
Has Wings?
Or Is It The Longing
For Companionship
That Keeps Him
In His School
Aloft?
The Hawk Outpost 3:36pm
There Sits One Cloud
Perfectly Bulbous
Out Over My Flattened Sea —
Today Is A Day For Me
The Sun Is On The Sky
& I’ll Have Dinner Guests
To Round Out My Table
The Hawk Window Seat 6:25pm
We have two sunsets
going on here:
first in The West
where You would expect
to see The Fire
& then in The East
from The Corner Room
where layered grey clouds
are tinged pink
with the throwback
of a diminishing sun

Look For A Rainbow
See A Smidgen In The Clouds
Catch It In Your Book:
I am watching
the beginnings of a rainbow
reaching higher above
My Kitchen Window
