FORCED VEGETARIANISM?

The Tomato-coloured Couch 6:47pm

What’s going on

with the flavour

(or lack thereof)

of meat

these days?

There’s My Second Dinner

out on the grass —

The First was pulled pork

for which I had to get My Money

back

& tonight

It’s six expensive

chicken breasts

(all You could taste was the tomato sauce & mozzarella cheese)

heaved to The Crows

& sales slip

retrieved from

the garbage

MORNING GOLD

The Hawk Dining Room 8:15am

The Sun is Gold

upon The Ocean —

I cannot forget Gold

It sustains Our Economy

such as It is

& when I look behind Me

I see The Window’s Shadow

warm upon My Mirrored

Wall

NEW MORNING

The Hawk Outpost 7:40am

The Sun looks cold

this morning

muffled behind a cloud

of fog

My Trash is bagged

to be dragged to the roadside

& I am about to have coffee

with My New

Husband

MOVING

The Hawk Outpost 1:41pm

There’s a ridge of ice

on The Ocean

& Deer in the yard

hungry for Our Neighbours’

I’m done packing

The Hawk Queen Bed 9:04am

The Sun broke through

The Winter Clouds

like a giant eye

& I could see

Its lower lid

dressed in Gold

like a vein

of precious Light

NEW LIGHT 2

The Hawk Dining Room 9:46am

A Beam Of Silver

straddles My View

out past the neighbours’

low roof tops

It stems from The Sun’s

white blaze

& turns

lime green

when I blink

Picking Up Shells In Africa

The Hawk Living Room 12:34pm

When I learned to walk

in Africa

I stooped over

& squatted

in The Sands of Gabon

to pick up spiral shells

to lift into

My Mother’s
