SPRING?

The Hawk Outpost 8:19am

The blinding glare of sun

off the water

lies on this first day of spring

yet We are set, still

inside deep winter

with stars of light

glinting off My ice-covered

deck

EVENING ON THE HAWK 2

The Hawk Outpost 7:15pm

The early evening light

light of spring

still in mid-winter temperatures

lays itself across

the yard, weeding its way

through The Scraggly Apple

turning pinkish gold upon

My Favourite Spruce

lighting up the rooftop gables

down by the Eastward shore

COUNTING STARS

The Tomato-coloured Couch 2:36pm

I am a Woman

Who consumes vast quantities

of air, fire, water

I am in The Depths

of fulfilled wanting

I swim in a vacuum

of love

for I am in The Combined

Companionship

with a creature

just like Me

DRINK FROM MY KITCHEN

The Hawk Outpost 6:00pm

I stand before My Kitchen Outpost

spaghetti boiling

to drink My 80th Glass

of brilliant water

I toast The Ocean

bluest with The Sky

My Life Glass

is up

My Sharp Horizon

is downed

MORNING GOLD

The Hawk Dining Room 8:15am

The Sun is Gold

upon The Ocean —

I cannot forget Gold

It sustains Our Economy

such as It is

& when I look behind Me

I see The Window’s Shadow

warm upon My Mirrored

Wall

MY FRIEND

The Hawk Kitchen 9:38am

I have My Kitchen Witch —

It’s a hand-carved, hand-painted Blue Jay

fat, sitting by My Sink Window

looking out

watching over Me

while I make

egg plant parmesan

DIVERSIFICATION

The Tomato-coloured Couch 7:39pm

I’m seeing The Universe again

this time on the behind

of My Navy Blue Long Johns

static-y with cat hair

globules of fuzz, lint

& God knows what all

NEW MORNING

The Hawk Outpost 7:40am

The Sun looks cold

this morning

muffled behind a cloud

of fog

My Trash is bagged

to be dragged to the roadside

& I am about to have coffee

with My New

Husband

MOVING

The Hawk Outpost 1:41pm

There’s a ridge of ice

on The Ocean

& Deer in the yard

hungry for Our Neighbours’

carrots

I’m done packing

Dr Blair’s

book collection

18 boxes in all

moved from Barrington

to The Hawk

in time for

lunch

BREAKING SUN

The Hawk Queen Bed 9:04am

The Sun broke through

The Winter Clouds

like a giant eye

& I could see

Its lower lid

dressed in Gold

like a vein

of precious Light
