Facing My Back Door
The Hawk Outpost 6:40pm
I am The Wisps of Gold
turning Pink
as The Clock turns
turning Grey
to Early Evening White
as a deer with antlers
grazes in My Back Yard
The Hawk Outpost 6:40pm
I am The Wisps of Gold
turning Pink
as The Clock turns
turning Grey
to Early Evening White
as a deer with antlers
grazes in My Back Yard
The Hawk Queen Bed 10:30pm
I Spent The Evening
Drenched In Sky
With Flecks Of Cloud
Grey & Gold
Swimming Before Me
Behind My Eyes
The Hawk West Desk Window 9:22pm
I stepped out of My Cheap Grey Capris
onto The Shores Of The New World —
in My Wake are carried The Multitudes
in My Reach The Hands Of Men
I’ve known, and will know
as I live My Life-long Pursuit
across That Breadth Of Existence
to which I have been birthed
The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 9:15pm
sometimes I cannot get
the words
fast enough
before the pink
spreads itself
out of the sky
& I am left
with My favourite
grey
The Hawk Window Seat 2:22pm
I Am The Warrior In Grey
My Broad Shoulders
Rising From
My Silver Gown
I Am Ready To Fight
For The Permanent Existence
Of Humankind
On This Planet
& anywhere
else
* Linkin Park
The Hawk West Desk Window 10:14am
The Cape has turned moss green
overnight
I gaze out across
Its growth of dunes
serene against the overcast sky
inlet tide — the rich grey
of My Husband’s Hair
while He’s in The Tub
The Hawk Living Room 12:56pm
Dr Blair bathes every morning
& has Me wash His Silver Hair
I lay out His Clothes —
moss green & grey
He shaves & smells so good
I feed Him His Breakfast —
instant oatmeal
protein shake
in front of The Computer
He changes His Slippers
for ageless Echo Shoes
& if Meniere’s Disease
doesn’t hit Him
between The Ears
He puts on His Leather Coat
with pen, cell phone
& gum
& is out The Door
The Hawk Outpost 10:15am
Beneath the woven stippling
of cloud
shimmering Silver
greets My Day
I see cross-hatches of Light
above My Horizon
and glittering grey
below
I know
Our World
and I know
Our Life
