"Good Morning, World!"

SUNDAY MORNING

The Hawk Deck 8:40am

The Morning Sky is Silver

as I heed the wealth

of My Surroundings

The Surf is shushing Me again

while My Teacup steeps

My Husband sleeps

I assess the coolness of The Wind

9:40am

The Surf is Louder Now

It Wakes Me Up

To The Silver Streaks & Pools

across The Ocean

My Husband is Up

& We’re Having Coffee

11:40am

A Pair of Jays have come

to The Straggly Apple by The Deck

Others Join Them

so I have My Flock of Jays

Who squawk out My Growing Up

as They All fly off:

“You are in The Childhood

of Your Maturity

Here On The Hawk”

THE SHOWER

I turned on The Water

in what’s called Eliza’s Shower

& unbuttoned My LL Bean Rose Striped Linen Shirt

in The Mirror, Eliza’s Mirror

& took off My Grey Capris

which I have to throw out

because My Husband told Me

They go up The Crack of My Butt

I took off My Underwear

& tossed It in Eliza’s Laundry Basket

I took off My Unwieldy Bra

& hung It on a doorknob

How Long Is This Poem Going To Be?

I looked at My Body’s Profile

& decided if I look fat

I am probably about to get My Period

I stepped in behind The Curtain

The Stall was dirty

I put cleanser on a cleaning rag

I cleaned while The Spray was on Me

& rinsed The Tub

My Hair Was Wet

I squeezed out some Nizoral

Red In My Left Hand

& lathered My Hair

The Directions advise to leave It in

for 3-5 minutes

so I stepped back out

to look at My Watch

It told Me I was in The Twenty-second minute

OH!  That’s When I Cleaned The Tub!

I cleaned The Tub & then Me

& rinsed My Hair

& got out

I towelled off in a clean towel

& took My Clothes

back to My Room

to put on Different Clothes

& Do You Know What I Put On?

I put on Black Underwear

My Black Push-up Bra

Black LL Bean Capris w/ Comfort Waist

Black Tank

Silver Earrings

Wedding Rings

Quartz Crystal & Diamond Question Mark Ring

& My Ladies Bulova Open-heart Watch

I bought for My Self

THE HAWK WEST DESK WINDOW 11:37am

The Fog has sunk

into My Left Shoulder

–I can’t do The Laundry–

–I shouldn’t even be writing–

Peak & Eliza have gone to Lunenburg

with Their Father & His Family

My Day Is Grey

but I’m OK–

isn’t that awful?

THE HAWK DECK 3:30pm

I am waiting in The Fog

with audible surf

and the occasional call

from a sea bird

waiting for The World

to collapse

but I somehow doubt It will:

The World is like A Very Strong Mother–

She may lie down for a nap

but always fixes supper

She may live in Her Bathrobe

yet maintains Her Modesty

She cleans when She feels like it

and gets Her Children to clean up

after Themselves

She loves everybody in Her House

Her Home is Her Sanctuary

She Is Her Own World

THE HAWK BEDROOM 12:05pm

SILVER

I have awakened Today

with The Weight of Silver

on Me & in Me

I must lug My Self

out from under

My Silver Comforter

to pee in The Bathroom

to pull out My Chair

from under My West Desk Window

to write The Transmutation

of The Shower of Silver Lights

crashing down around Me

now pulling Me bodily down

into My 144 Pounds:

I am worth My Weight in Silver

I am 2304 Ounces of The New Age
