THE PLAY

The Hawk Kitchen 9:30am

Yesterday I put on a play

for My Husband —

I dressed in Eliza’s Black Satin Robe

& My World Trade Center Earrings

took My Wedding Rings Off

& declared to WHB

that He houses

The Most Dangerous Woman In The World —

then the gold and silver pin holding My Robe

exploded off Me

causing Me to change

into My Silver Grey

with Earrings of Dangling Gold

from Africa

& rhinestone bracelet:

a bauble of The Earth

L is for LOVE

The Hawk Basement NOON

I stood in the laundry room

contemplating a change

of rowing gear —

looking down at My Flimsy Shorts

I saw a tiny star

like the ones from My Visual Field Test

drop

into

My Field of Vision

&

so

I wear

a tee-shirt from Eliza

which says

“GOLD is GOD”

spelled

with

an

“L”

MY DAUGHTER & EYE

The Hawk Queen Bed 10:15pm

Together We watched a purple sky

as evening fell

upon Our Christmas Dinner —

 on Our way back

from Barrington

to pick up an ice pack

for Her trip south

We watched, together

the cradle of The Moon

falling into

a blackened sea

COMMAND

The Hawk Queen Bed 10:22pm

from Collective Soul:

“Live & Let Your Light

Shine Down”

or is that

“Heaven, Let Your Light

Shine Down”

on My Daughter

headed

for

Miami?

LAVENDER LADY

Eliza’s Lavender Room 7:36pm

The Second Coming of Christ

has moved out of Her Husband’s Room

to afford greater access

to sleep without cats

— a temporary move —

but now to live

in the singularity of mind

DIVINE & HUMAN

as She programs Her Self

to open up The World

by saying “Good Night”

to Its mammoth past

SAFELY STOWED IN THE LAND OF NOD*

The Tomato-coloured Couch 1:22pm

I want to put Roses

on My Brother’s Grave

on His Stone

inscribed with The First Bar

of Fur Elise

He taught His Niece Eliza

but I am certain

His Roses

lying there

would blow

away

THE DECISION

The Hawk Living Room 1:28pm

One Weekend in Early November

My Daughter decided

to quit school

— finishing out the semester of course —

to go to Florida

to work on a boat

— the powering kind —

She wrote a to-do list

blended up an avocado smoothie

for Me to taste

& That was That

OCEAN SWATH

The Hawk Dining Room 11:17am

The Swath of Silver

has moved

from My Kitchen Outpost

to beyond The Dining Room

I can see It

from My Marble Table

& I can Love It

all the more

— steel streaks included —

framed within

My Arched Window

garlanded by Eliza

“I Want To Be A Famous Artist Living In Nova Scotia”

The Tomato-coloured Couch 2:00pm

I have painted

giant canvases

spread My Self across

the geography of Canada

written volumes of poetry

married twice

to capable men

carried My 2.4 Children

I live now in a house

of My Own Choosing

I am The Artist In Residence

in painted-on jeans

with tea steeping

in My Kitchen

THE NEW APARTMENT

The Hawk Window Seat 1:30pm

I know A Beautiful Girl

Who lives on fruit

& nutritional shakes

& runs Cross Country

for Her University

She has A Room Mate

sharing the same

abode

drinking the same

supplements

& running for Her Life
