THEIR LIVES

The Hawk Outpost 8:05am

I stand in a beam

of Silver Light

thinking of My Children

My Sole Delight?

I seem to see Them

in My Mind

as if I have Them

for All Time

LAVENDER CANDLE

The Hawk Corner Room 4:34pm

I hear the surf

through the fog

of Our Elusive Spring

I have decked My Daughter’s

powder room with accents

of purple and I sit

on My Lotus Ottoman

with the wet window

before Me

& eggplant ensemble

behind

WHAT IS MY BAR CODE?

The Hawk Kitchen 6:30

I AM A WOMAN

with thick curly hair

blond in The Sun

I live on The South West Shore

of Nova Scotia

I have a 22 lb Black Cat

I Love

I Love The World

I Love My Self

I Love My Husbands

I Love My Telepathic Partner

I Love My Children

ALL THREE OF THEM

MID-WEEK

The Hawk Window Seat 8:46am

I’ve picked out

My Husband’s Wednesday attire —

Dockers M made in Vietnam

pin-striped shirt

charcoal grey wool trousers

LL Bean size 34″ by 29″

He’s in the tub

& I’m in Eliza’s black negligee

ready to wash Dr Blair’s

magnificent hair

WAITING

The Hawk Kitchen 2:55pm

I put My green-checked apron

on over My Glittering Chains

dangling from Eliza’s left-over sweater

while a big black cat circles My Ankles —

I’m ready to make lasagna

for various dinners this week —

the first week for My Husband

in His New Town

The First for Me

as The Doctor’s Wife

PRECIOUS

The Tomato-coloured Couch 7:53pm

Golden Light Fell

Across The Speckled Flank

Of Our Fancy Tabby

Who Died Today

While Holding My Hand

And Calling To Me

Through Unblinking Eyes

Of Black And Gold

A DAY OF DYING

The Hawk T.V. Room 12:38pm

I got enough sleep

Not The Sleep Of The Dead

still in My Pyjamas

She seems to want Me

close —

My Daughter’s Cat

I tell Her “It’s OK”

I pet Her “It’s All Right”

She gives a breathy mew

& lifts Her Head

to Live

A ROOM OF THREE GENERATIONS

Eliza’s Room 2:30pm

I live in a lavender room

where I have pulled up

the curtain against a backdrop

of rolling waves

and scrub spruce tree tops

above a painted chest

housing My Mother’s Childhood Diaries

I am sanctified

in My Daughter’s Room

where The Out-stretched Quilt

of rippling bands of purple

spreads  Itself beneath two walls

of My World Trade Center Rooftop Painting

titled Self Organizing Galaxy

and beneath My Signature

in three-foot-high letters

coloured Black

THE GUEST ROOM

The Hawk Window Seat 12:22pm

I have put up

a sheer lavender curtain

— one that Eliza didn’t like —

in Her vacated lavender room

now to be used for Guests

Who may never come

— the curtain has purple carnations

scattered across it

without obscuring the view

of rolling surf beyond

ASLEEP

The Hawk Corner Room 1:10pm

My Bed is laid

with The Quilt of Purple Ripples

under an array

of framed memorabilia

of Self Organizing Galaxy

in Eliza’s Room

while She is away

messing about in boats
