WEEK 12

The Hawk Deck 8:19am

Twelve weeks ago I took

My Last Pill of Olanzapine

and I am stable as I was meant to be

but have to deal with continued

sleep deprivation —

last night I got 61/2 hours

on 2 mgs of Ativan

which is better than the night before —

Eliza and Jon will see

My Sculpture this morning

as it sits on the kitchen counter

with Its Left Eye closed

and Its Right Eye

in Another World —

The Sun is out

and I have the freshness of September

coming into play

PRAYER FOR THE PIGS

The Hawk Queen Bed 7:14pm

“This Little Piggy Went To Market —

He was killed humanely

This Little Piggy Stayed Home

He watched TV with The Dog

This Little Piggy Ate Roast Beef

He didn’t like what He saw on Food Inc

This Little Piggy Had None

He was vegetarian

And This Little Piggy Went Wee Wee Wee

All The Way Home —

peeing in His pants”

AT THE SIGN

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 9:51am

I stood bare-footed beside My Rose

above It, twice

and first I heard a Blue Jay

and second My Mother’s Chickadee

and as I looked at the numerous blossoms

I heard the surf of The Cape

and reveled in the fog droplets

upon the fertilized leaves

SEEKING SOLITUDE

The Hawk Beach 7:55pm

Eye had just started to write

The Guzzle is @ Its deepest

when the incoming tide

churns its way toward Me

along the far edge

caught in the evening light

like a mini Grand Canyon —

then Eye heard a BUZZ —

a giant flying insect?

Eye looked overhead & guessed

Eye was being spied upon

by M(eye) 1st Ever Drone!

SLEEP TIGHT

The Hawk West Desk Window 9:19pm

I hate to close the shade

on the last remnants of sunset

but I can hear The Waves

through the bathroom window

and so all is well

with Me.

SAND CASTLES

The Hawk Beach 7:50pm

Last night I saw one sizeable sand castle

with a tunnel and moat and bridge —

tonight one hump of it

and the bridge of wood

remain —

farther along The Hawk Beach

an additional creation is ringed

with blue and purple mussel shells

sporting crab claws and sea gull feathers

and a third,

also from last night,

sets unscathed

with pink crab shells adorning

each of its four turrets

THE HIGHEST TIDE

The Hawk Beach 8:10pm

Tonight I am immersed

in a blue paler

than the sky

after a light rain

when I almost didn’t bring My Book

the weightiness of My Words

has Me sitting on damp sand

at the edge of the tide

as darker waves undulate

beneath sunlight in The East —

OH!

ONE LOST PAINTING

The Hawk West Desk Window 7:28pm

It filled My Mother’s Sun Deck

during a student year

I used a lot of black

with three blotches of red

positioned unintentionally like cherries

on a banana split

I left It out overnight

when the wind got up

and stuck the paint with leaves

and shaped the canvas

into a highlighted streak

of accidental luminosity

ENERGIZED

The Hawk Beach 7:00pm

Beside My Lovely Guzzle

The Transparency of Flaming June

is complete —

finished in a two-day almost frenzy

& I am almost exhausted —

here for My Fortification

with The Waves @ My Sneakers

I have somewhere to go

while My Husband rows

His Dory

and We take a break

from discussions of

The Medical Cartel

ON A FOREST FLOOR

The Hawk Beach 8:11pm

There were three loose dogs

on The Hawk Beach tonight

so I turned South West

toward The Drowned Forest —

The Tide was out revealing

an extended array of ancient stumps

haggled in rock weed

twisted roots of prehistoric origin

continuing their grope through a sandy bog bed —

I came past the mysterious line

of purposely positioned stalks

to where an outcropping

of larger mangled trunks mingled

with the off-shore boulders

and I sat upon a square white rock

to write as The Sun went down

behind
