I’ve Seen Another Galaxy

The Tomato-coloured Couch 8:22pm

I’ve seen another Galaxy

end-on in the crumb-laden

line of frosting off a piece

of Carrot Cake —

contained in a clear plastic box

I held

with My Barbie-Band-Aided fingers

from when I sliced My Left Index

& where Astro scratched

My Pinkie

TONIGHT

The Hawk Queen Bed 10:25pm

Tonight I’ll tell You

what I don’t hear:

the peepers & the waves

are closed out

by south windows shut

against a breeze too cool

— the north bathroom window is open

partially

but not a breath of sea

comes through

— an elderly cat, encouraged

to stay on Our Bed

& purr

has refused the invitation

All that’s left

is Hunter rattling

the spherical wire

inside His Jug

of night time protein drink

consumed

MY BACKYARD

The Hawk Deck 1:25pm

I have moved away

from My Childhood

into the backyard

of Maturity

where birds occupy My Attention

& a southerly breeze ruffles the hedge

behind My House

I look to The Sea

while The Indoor Cat

— an older one —

briefly visits

TRANSFIGURATION 2

The Hawk Out Post 12:51pm

The Blue Jay

bore out of the bush

to a rock in My Far Yard

 then to The Scraggly Apple

— I kept My Eye on Him —

— feeling My Blood —

& He Came to

Me

He Came

SKY SITTING

The Hawk Outpost 6:46pm

The Clouds Tonight

look like The Face

of Jupiter

undulating as They do

like waves

on an incoming shore

variations of grey & blue

hover over

My Yard

where Our Biggest Cat

Astro

sits to listen

to The Birds of Evening

while The Sky sits

above

NOVA SCOTIAN

The Hawk Outpost 3:10pm

It’s A Nova Scotia Day

— I Can Tell Just By Looking —

The Wind Is More Than Brisk

Waves Are Breaking

Farther Out

Amidst The White Caps

The Air Is Clear

& My Big Black Cat Astro

Wants To Come In

I Just Made A Bed

The Hawk West Desk Window 12:30pm

I just made a bed

for The Procreation Of Humanity:

I spread out a dark brown bottom fitted sheet

and picked off The Galaxies

stuck there —

I overlaid the top sheet — dark purple

tucked it under the queen-size mattress

& filled the matching pillow cases

with very old pillows

The Comforter went over last —

old too because of the occupancy

of cats

THAT WAS THAT

The Hawk Queen Bed 10:00pm

Tonight I saw a Nebula

of cat hair against a mat

black by the front door

with a Crescent Moon

of shedded cat claw

among the detritus of outdoors

tracked in

and as I contemplated from above

My Spectacle of Space

a fat cat came along

and sat

and sat
