22 HOUR GETAWAY

The Tomato-coloured Couch 2:22pm

After unpacking the 3-day weekend contents

of My 20 Million Meter Sports Bag

used for the first time

I put on an orange plastic

Party Bracelet

packed but never worn

and watched It make rainbows

on the toilet seat cover

when I threw away

a clump of cat hair

RESPITE

The Hawk Queen Bed 2:45pm

Here I am on The Hawk Queen Bed

with Hunter, The Cats

and The Birds through the windows —

I can hear The Surf, distantly

and the fog has cleared

leaving rays of light

on My Wadded Up Bathrobe

set aside

CAUGHT

The Tomato-coloured Couch 12:33pm

EYE stood in the doorway

of My Hawk Living Room

and watched a magical wisp of conglomerated

cat hair

float down

into the light

of My Open Palm

and in that moment

I held The Power

of The Universe

BED TIME

Eliza’s Room 8:11pm

I go to bed at eight o’clock

like a child

back to My Daughter’s Lavender Room

so as not be awakened

before dawn

by various

cats

wanting to be let out

and back in

MY ASTROPITHICUS

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 8:38pm

I understand the comfort

of holding & hugging

A 22lb Black Cat

on My Lap — I can hug Him

& leak out My Heart

into Him

& not worry about

being a burden

EVENING

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 7:30pm

Eye see the blush of sky

over The Atlantic

w/ The Moon above

the deer’s abandoned carrots —

the cats are out

& the deer are below

packed in the scrub spruce —

oh! Eye see one, two, three

down in the bog

camouflaged

contemplating a return

GALAXY POEM #?

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 1:45pm

I’ve done enough

of sweeping up galaxies —

it’s an endless task

organizing, compiling known particles

of cat hair, cat food crumbs

specks of kitty litter, the occasional claw point

not to mention Heaven’s Dust

heavy in My House —

“Out Damn Spot!”

SEEING FROM ABOVE

The Hawk Living Room 8:30pm

The Time has Come

to write of My Floor

My Platform of The Universe

laid out like a sea

The Foundation of My Living Room –

I come downstairs

seeing It from above

to pick up stray galaxies

of cat hair bundles

— maybe only one or two —

along the vast expanse

of My Extreme Meanderings

OFF DAY

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 10:22am

No rowing today

It’s snowing & I prefer

to keep My Feet up

with a scraggly cat by My Side

looking out to My Beloved

scraggly apple, scrub spruce

complete with the occasional crow

SKY MORNING

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 7:45am

A golden band of sun

greets Me over this dark sea

I am just up

from an adequate sleep

ready to make the coffee

& let out a cat

or two
