I HAVE FOUND HAPPINESS

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 6:34pm

I have found happiness

in the stillness of the air

I have found happiness

in the songs of the birds

I have found happiness

in the company of cats

& with a sleeping husband

I have found

that I am

whole

FLOCK

The Hawk Back Yard 2:20pm

Birds are like Stars

moving together in a swath

according to One Another

Their Blurred Wings

spread the illumination

Their Bodies carry

the vivid spectacle

of form out of reach

MORNING CLOUD

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 7:53am

Again My Sky is opalescent

framed within the window

of My Sliding Glass Door

I can hear the morning birds

the cats are quiet

coffee is ready to pour

VITALIZATION

The Hawk Deck 10:22am

Every Wave that crashes

goes through Me like a shot

invigorating My Cell Collection

so that I may never stop

They form the background

for The Birds Who sing

all My Favourite Songs

Together Our Surf & Flight

compel Me to belong

STANDARD REFORMATION

The Tomato-coloured Couch 3:40pm

I can hear Nova Scotia

in the song of the birds

on the convolutions of the wind

breezing through My Screen

Yes, I am screened in —

I live a life for God

by Her Design

I am laden

with My Perfect

Responsibility

meshing with the object

of My Deepest Wish

FEEDING A GULL

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 3:20pm

I Have A Gull

Who Knows His Place

He Sits, raw

on My Right Middle Finger

a chunk of amethyst

bought Myself

next to My Included Refinement

bought Myself

He gets thrown hunks

of out-dated bread

from My Left Hand Fingers

dead-weighted with the diamonds

of marital promise

swallowed whole

while holding His Ground

DEFERENCE TO A GRACKLE

The Hawk Kitchen 10:00am

Last Night I watched

A Crow sidling up

to some bread I had thrown

but before He got there

A Grackle came clucking around

& The Crow moved off

three steps back

to allow The Grackle

first peck

MY OUTPOST WINDOW

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 3:51pm

My Outpost Window

is open to The Sea

screened against

moths & bugs I see

The Ocean framed

by The Upright Rectangle

of sliding glass

pushed up & open

to afford My Dream

treasured with The Song

of Birds

MEETING WITH A HUMMING BIRD

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 8:17am

Out on My Deck, briefly

to assess The Silver Sea

as I stood on a mat of rope

A Humming Bird came to Me —

was it My Fuchsia Pyjama Top

which prompted saying “Hi”?

Or was He alerting Me

to The Importance of My Day

before He said “Good-bye”?

SKY OF MORNING

The Hawk Kitchen Outpost 8:21am

I See Silver

On The Ocean

‘neath An Opalescent Sky

One Fishing Boat

Sits Along The Horizon

A Gull & Crow

& Smaller Fry

Fly By

& By
