At 5:00 This Morning
I got up to set up
My dried-out wooden folding chair
from its basement winter
to sit like a bathrobed apparition
upon my unfurnished deck
to hear audible condensation
sliding off my new metal roof
along with peepers still dripping —
blackened scrub spruce tops
decorated my dawning glow
as I absorbed this ameliorating display
accompanied by Golden Crescent Moon
perfected with Planetary Accent.
Sitting on a concrete bench
in the middle of Barrington’s thoroughfare
I’m listening to the shrill of peepers
a sound I love above

as it’s Suppertime
