Well, in a very old cardboard box
removed from The Attic of Peter’s Parents’
Eye found Prized Possessions
thought long ago 2 be gone forever:
The Candlestick Lady —
the porcelain Statue
missing one hand
from M(eye) Great Grandmother
on M(eye) Mother’s Side
& M(eye) 1st Art Award
bestowed by Nyack Public Schools
June 21st, 1973
framed by M(eye) Grandfather
in Black & Gold —
These 2 Precious Sentimentalities
were accompanied by
The Wooden Boat Model
of M(eye) Grandfather’s punt WYNKEN
complete w/ miniature oars, painter,
oarlocks made of fashioned wire.
THEN in that same forlorn box
Eye found an object
from M(eye) Very Early Childhood
for which Eye had no recollection
of how It came 2 be here in Nova Scotia —
M(eye) Last Living Memory
of Its Glassed-in Encasement
of ancient paper flowers
surrounding the now faceless figure
of a Little Doll-like Apparition
was The Memory of Its Shadowbox
perched on top of a cupboard
in M(eye) Father’s Cousin’s dining room
for Me at 3 in Awe
looking at a tiny glass household
containing shreds of coloured mylar
captivating M(eye) Eyes
w/ Its Glinting Mystery…
— as an adult
Eye assumed It had come from Italy
a relic of M(eye) Great Grandfather Tonetti
& thought It to be only a sacred memory
— butt NO — now 60 Years Later
Eye suddely possessed
M(eye) Cherished Childhood
& looked underneath
Its darkened tin casing

Eye intercepted, by CHANCE
M(eye) 1st Husband
about 2 take a cart load
2 The Dump —
contents of His Parents’ Attic.
Within His Load
Eye saved 2 Pedestal Fruit Bowls:
1 Fluted Glass & 1 White China
with grape patterning
(which may have once been Mine.)
Also 3 Dirty Glass Dishes
which Eye washed, of course
as soon as Eye got home.
Then yesterday morning
before taking The 3 Glowing Dishes
out of the dish rack,
Eye moved The Pedestal Fruit Bowls
(also cleaned)
over 2 the counter
beside M(eye) Corner Cupboard
in order 2 clear the counter
beside the sink.
BIG MISTAKE.
As Eye placed The 3 Glass Dishes
inside The Security
of M(eye) Corner Cupboard —
down came M(eye) Left Elbow
upon the edge
of The Fluted Glass Fruit Bowl,
smashing It against The Counter Top
& all over The Kitchen Floor:
THE BULL IN A CHINA SHOP —
& when next Eye told M(eye) Friend Dan
THE DESCRIPTION OF DESTRUCTION
He laughed
& rallied with
“I’D LIKE 2 BE A BULL
IN A PORNO SHOP!”

The usage of EYE vs I represents a mindset
which varies depending on how Eye am seeing myself.

After getting up
w the cats @ 4:00 in the morning,
I went back to sleep
& for some peculiar & unknown reason
I dreamt of a caucasian mustached man
standing in the doorway
of my mother’s kitchen in Valley Cottage
who had an affliction:
a nearby friend declared that this man
“Was Peppered With Penises”
& that he, The Man, was prepared
to show me his hidden deformity
(despite another forthcoming declaration
that he did have his NORMAL one)
so he, The Man, pulled his pants down
& looking up
stood in the pose of a model
with one arm bent upward
& then lay down
somewhere beside my mother’s cupboard
to have me inspect
& count (if I wanted to)
his numerous & varied penises
each with it’s own characteristics,
when they, the penises,
(which were mostly little, some
shorter than others)
began to move, to gravitate
into line formation, like sides of a team
& lo & behold,
they, the penises,
began to open each their own eye
& talk.
