"Good Morning, World!"

Off To A Bad Start

On My First Outing

with Dr Blair, after

showing him My Aquarium Mural

on the ceiling of the IWK* burn unit —

and going to Tim Horton’s —

Eye lay on the grass

of a Halifax park

to look into His Eyes of Blue:

“Do you think I am

The Second Coming of Christ?”

Eye hesitantly asked —

“No,” he said

“You’re a cheap date.”

“The World Is My Oyster”

and Eye am The Grit —

the contaminant, the irritant

and layer by layer

Eye will come out

Gleaming

A Great Find

Here is an artist’s note on the back of her painting

found at the Salvation Army in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia:

“Jim, Here is the painting that you forgot to take with you on Saturday.  I hope you like it! Hope to see you again soon.

From, Robin”

PERSEVERANCE

Eye make My Bed

upon rising

Eye make My Art

upon the morning dark

dancing to the music

of black frustration

Dr Legend

My Captive of nineteen years ago

stood bedraggled

in the night time doorway

of His dank examining room

with Arms of Dishonour

extended

Morning Tea With Cream

Eye wear regal fakery

on My Left Ring Finger —

solid gold

on My Right.

The World will be told

why

some time soon

if the parties involved

feel like it

Fantasy Cut

Eye have My Princess Dress

in Lime Green Satin

sequined of course

with exposed crinoline lining

in multiple layers —

It was for Some Girl’s Prom

but Eye will make of It what I will:

Sex On A Hilltop

in The High Meadow Grass

filmed

INSPIRATION

Eye will paint

The Sea Foam White

inlaid with shards of shells

collected

with infant fingers

from My First Beach

in Africa

The Artist’s Legacy

If You’re a poet

and You kill Yourself

no one will appreciate

Your Work

the way You would have

wanted.

If You’re an artist

and You cut off Your Ear

people will call You

insane.

The Accident

Eye was The 1st-grader

Who spilt chocolate milk

on Her smocked blue and white dress

in the school cafeteria

just before She was to sing

in the chorus

of “Chicken Little”
