Eye was That Girl Next Door
Who went one step too far —
embarrassing, shameless, naive
desperate as I always have been
& now that I’m almost 65
not much has changed.
I’ve left a trail of letters
one book
a bunch of poems
outlining a life
grappling for effect
fatherless from an early age —
can it all be blamed
on THAT??

Eye had my first
Bling Ring
in the 4th grade:
a little block of crystal
iridescent pink, blue & gold —
the ring itself was probably “adjustable”
& I remember feeling proud 2 wear it
butt had no association w where it came from —
that little block of light
Eye somehow have still —
sitting on my Kitchen Outpost window sill
under 3 other light-catching ornaments:
the 3D X-miss Star, the wine decanter stop
& the multicoloured dangling hot air balloon
associated w The Man O’ M(eye) Dreams.
