"Good Morning, World!"

Month: May, 2014

DRESSING DR BLAIR

The Hawk Living Room 12:56pm

Dr Blair bathes every morning

& has Me wash His Silver Hair

I lay out His Clothes —

moss green & grey

He shaves & smells so good

I feed Him His Breakfast —

instant oatmeal

protein shake

in front of The Computer

He changes His Slippers

for ageless Echo Shoes

& if Meniere’s Disease

doesn’t hit Him

between The Ears

He puts on His Leather Coat

with pen, cell phone

& gum

& is out The Door

SKY SITTING

The Hawk Outpost 6:46pm

The Clouds Tonight

look like The Face

of Jupiter

undulating as They do

like waves

on an incoming shore

variations of grey & blue

hover over

My Yard

where Our Biggest Cat

Astro

sits to listen

to The Birds of Evening

while The Sky sits

above

WARNING CRY

The Hawk Glass Table 3:00pm

Clear Squawk Of The Jay

Calls Me To My Infancy

His Nestlings Are Safe?

PRISMATIC

The Hawk Queen Bed 11:00am

Last Night I Went To Sleep

Under The Flash Of Our Light House

pulsating every five seconds

To Wake This Morning

To Our Sun Over

The Crest Of Ocean

infinitely scattered

MOMENTARY VIEW

POWER

The Hawk Queen Bed 4:00am

Static Of The Sea

Wherein Does My Power Lie?

Static Of The Sea

THE PEEPER’S LAMENT

The Hawk West Desk Window 10:25pm

We’re down to one feeble

peeper

in The Muskrat Pond

Do all the rest

have mates?

Or having given up on His Own

is He calling over

to another

bog?

THIS IS MY LOVE

The Hawk Portico 2:22pm

This is what I should

be doing —

sitting in The Sun

in The Quiet of

My Life

listening to The Birds

& deciding

what to

write

The Tomato-coloured Couch 2:53pm

I sit in a shaft

of Sunlight

journal on My Lap

ready to write

& I can write only

that I am in Love —

I Am In Love

With Life

OUR MORNING WORLD

The Hawk Outpost 10:15am

Beneath the woven stippling

of cloud

shimmering Silver

greets My Day

I see cross-hatches of Light

above My Horizon

and glittering grey

below

I know

Our World

and I know

Our Life

A SMALL IRONY

The Tomato-coloured Couch 8:10pm

Having Been Awakened

To The Existence

Of God

By A Shower Of Silver Lights

On March 31st, 1993

That Same Year

In October

I Was Told By My Own

Private God

On My Right Shoulder:

“You Know The Meaning Of Life

And So You Are

A Star —

So Go To Sleep”
