I HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE
by Joanna Gilman Hyde
The Hawk Portico 5:50pm
I have fallen in love
with the spirit of the sea
encroaching as it does
upon the scrub spruce out front
and behind —
I’ll take them any day —
they house the birds
I thrive upon
they become enmeshed
in the early morning sun
and mist — outlining each branch
as if it were a star
how I love the wild here
the unleashed surf
and even, yes even
the occasional car
or truck
traversing the pavement
of My Southern Boundary
to The Atlantic
A slightly longer piece for you – I like it. —CC
Thank You. Would I be crass in asking here what You thought of “Confession”?
You want frank or polite?
Frank, please. I think I can take it.
I start with the premise that it’s either true or something else. Then I question your goal. If it’s true and factual then WordPress is probably insufficient to serve as a platform for getting your story out there. If it’s not true and simply a deep-seated conjecture on your part then you probably should question why you would want to take that weight of the universe upon your shoulders, and atop that why you would want to make it public. I think SOG is a poignant and forever piece of art, even if it no longer exists. I think you potentially do yourself, the art, and the good people linked through the WTC events, a disservice. You end up on the outside looking in at something you were such a beautiful piece of. And there are many out there who will simply react to the Confession without the context of your background and simply react to it at face value and think it somehow blasphemous. Consider if the Confession showed up on Alphabet City, written by Chagall. People don’t know me from Adam. Same for you, but you’re the real deal. I think I know where you are coming from on this one – but I could be a small minority of the folks who get it.
Please see “cannibal goddess” on Alphabet City by Chagall.
