I AM YOUR REASON

Ring In This New Year
with Me As Your Reason
for Schizophrenia
for I Am The Human Mind:
I take unlimited forms
no — I will not hack a head off
on a Greyhound Bus
no — I will not shove an unsuspecting commuter
onto a subway track
no — I will not mow down
a school yard
of kids
I have had My Head examined
for twenty years
yes — I take medication for sleep
who doesn’t?
yes — I have strange desires
seemingly unfulfilled
who hasn’t?
But I Am Here Hear People
I Am Alive
Are You Ready & Willing
To Shoulder
My Outrage?
I really like this poem Joanna, I think it makes a bold statement.
I first made the statement “I Am Your Reason For Schizophrenia”
to a psychiatrist, with my first husband present (twenty years ago) and neither of them seemed to have a clue and neither of them made any effort to delve any deeper. I have been grappling with this concept ever since. Thank you for understanding that it is a bold statement — probably one of the boldest I have made, and will continue making — especially while I have support from people like you.
